REVIEW EDU HOSTEL YOGYAKARTA (English version)

Yogyakarta is one of the most populer tourist destination in Indonesia. That's why Adi Sucipto International airport is nominated as the most crowded airport. Along with the increasing of tourist population, hotel industry in Jogja also developes significantly. Edu Hostel is an example of a newcomer hotel, it kind of hostel exactly.

I will try to review this hostel based on my own experience. I have stayed there three times along this year. The hostel is recommended enough, thats why i do repeat booking and write this review for sharing with you all.  Hope it will help u to choose a low budget hostel on ur Yogyakarta's itinerary :)

The rate of edu hostel, on September 2017, is only
IDR 80.000/night/bed/person for dormitory room
IDR 460.000/night/room for private room

Hostel Facilities

  • 2 room types (dorm and private)
  • Big Locker (for each person in bed room)
  • Air Conditioning
  • Bath room inside (hot water)
  • Rooftop swimming pool
  • Rooftop terrace
  • Common tv area
  • Free wi-fi access (Lobby area only)
  • Breakfast include (For all room type)
  • Water Refill
  • Bicycle (for rent)
  • Mushola (in first floor)

I really enjoy this hostel, the facilities are more than enough for IDR 80.000. Even i can get lower price by getting a promo from traveloka. I payed about IDR 105.000 for 2 night on my first coming and IDR 140.000 for my last trip. When i was coming it's ramadhan, the front office offer me to change the breakfast into "sahur". I got really nice impression because the menu serve completely. There are rice, soup, fried chicken, tempe, cracker, water melon and hot tea. Like so wow, for a hostel IDR 50.000/night. But the special package is only served in ramadhan, because they has already had daily menu in regular day, like i share below. If u can't find ur own food, it's also possible to upgrade ur breakfast menu. Please inform the front office a day before.

Room Type

Edu Hostel has 5 floors, the first floor for lobby and meeting venue, the second and third are dormitory, fourth is private room and the last one is roof top for public area with some fasilities. There are 2 room's type here, which is dorm and private. Dorm type is devided in to female and male dorm. So make sure that u has already booked the right dorm type for ur own. The dorm is consist of 3 bunk beds (6 single bed) for each room, both of male or female dorm. It has a bath room with 2 showers inside and a dry toilet in another side. Besides the private room is design for family (max 4 person), the room is consist of 1 big bunk bed. We will get a king size bed and 2 single bed above. I dont know inside the room because i never booked it yet. But i think the whole fasilities are almost same, except a television in private room.

I personally really enjoy here, i'm glad to meet a new friend from another city, even another country. Some people maybe little bit getting worry about the privacy of the shared room. But it is not as bad as u though before. Everyone has a locker, just put ur personal belongings there. If u bring a pricey thing (like laptop, camera, etc), it's better to put your own padlock because there is no key on the locker. We can bring our own padlock or buy it in front office about IDR 12.000. Oh ya, dont forget to write on the special request form if u prefer to choose the lower bed rather than the upper bed.

We have to give deposite about IDR 50.000 when we are check in. It's like a bail, perhaps we broke or lose the electric key card. If you stay in private room, you will get 1 key card only. So if you wanna have more key card, u should pay the bail as much as the key you want (IDR 50.000/ key). We need the key to open the door of our bed room and the door in front of the lift in each floor.

Hostel Location

Edu hostel is located in Letjen Suprapto street number 17, Ngampilan, Yogyakarta. I think it is strategic enough because of the easily access. If u wanna stay near Malioboro street, the hotel can be ur choice. It's neither far nor near, but still very accessible to the Malioboro street, Beringharjo market, Yogyakarta station, Sultan palace or any others place in the downtown.
